Why this site exists

Dog Trip Britain began with a frustration familiar to anyone who has travelled with a dog: the word “pet-friendly” tells you almost nothing. Permission to bring a dog does not tell you whether a boundary fence is secure, whether the nearest beach bans dogs all summer, whether a holiday unit sits beside a busy footpath, or whether a train change with a nervous spaniel is realistic at rush hour. Those missing details are where trips succeed or quietly fall apart — and they are what this site is for.

Practical before promotional

Dog Trip Britain is an independent editorial project about travelling around Britain with dogs. Every guide is built around the same idea: turn vague pet-friendly promises into concrete questions you can ask before you book, checks you can run on arrival, and plans that survive British weather. We would rather publish one thorough guide that answers the awkward questions than ten thin pages that repeat the brochure.

What we publish — and what we won’t claim

Our guides cover dog-friendly holiday parks, caravan stays, rail journeys, weekend breaks and the practical side of travelling with dogs: packing, first aid and on-the-road care. Changing rules are checked against the organisation responsible for them — councils for beach restrictions, operators for carriage conditions, government sources for law. Where advice is our judgement rather than a verified rule, we say so. We do not invent visits, owners, ratings or reader numbers, and we do not manufacture first-person anecdotes to make an article feel more lived-in than it is.

A young site, clearly labelled

This site launched in October 2026. The library is deliberately small at first so every article can be reviewed as a connected set rather than left to drift. Destination coverage will expand only when there is enough genuinely useful, checked detail to justify a page — you will not find filler here. Rules-heavy pages are prioritised for seasonal review, and every article carries the date it was last checked.

Commercial relationships

No affiliate links are active at launch. If that changes, any link that could earn the site money will be clearly labelled near the link, and commercial terms will never buy a place in a guide, guarantee coverage or prevent criticism. The full position is set out in our affiliate disclosure, and how we work in our editorial policy.

Help us get it right

Rules change and we miss things. If you spot an out-of-date restriction, an unclear sentence or a practical detail worth checking, we want to know — see contact for what helps us verify a correction fastest.

Field notes, not sales copy

Plan the break around the dog in front of you.

We turn vague pet-friendly promises into practical questions: boundaries, walks, noise, travel and the rules worth checking twice.
